Father’s Day Gift Ideas 2008

Neckties make a great Father’s Day gift
Even though Mother’s Day was just last weekend, it’s never too early to start thinking about your Father’s Day gift for this year! While it may be daunting to find that present for dad, fear not because there are many great ideas.

Consider electronics or gadgets for Father’s Day gifts. Perhaps you can help your father preserve your special memories by giving a digital photo frame. These centerpieces are quickly becoming popular because they can show many different photos instead of one constant photo. They are also climbing down in price. I recently saw a Polaroid-brand digital photo frame (7″) for about $70.
Does your father have a digital camera? It could come in quite useful for his next big adventure, whether with you or his buddies. A digital camera would make a great gift.
What is your father’s favorite movie? If he doesn’t own it, Father’s Day can be your opportunity to get it for him! Is he a huge fan of James Bond 007? A James Bond complete DVD set would be great. The new Indiana Jones movie is about to be released later this month, and DVDs of the previous movies are being released again. If your father is a fan of adventure-genre movies (or the Indiana Jones franchise), this would be a great time to get him the complete set.
Does your father enjoy working on hands-on projects around the home and in the garden? Perhaps get him a new power tool or a tool set. A tool box with matching accessories would come in handy for future home projects. This very useful present will sure to be put to good use by your dad.
Also, a good general Father’s Day gift is a necktie, wallet, or belt. While it may not be the most personal gift, it works well for the men in your life who are fathers but whom you don’t know too well. Consider the father’s favorite outfit, and select a tie that works colorwise and stylewise with that outfit. Perhaps a solid dark-blue tie that pairs well with his favorite light blue striped shirt. That would make a gift that pairs well with his existing wardrobe.
Is your father a history buff? Perhaps get him a boxed set of books about a particular era in history. Perhaps a compendium of Civil War facts and stories. Or a guide to World War II machinery and weaponry. If your father is a veteran, honor him with a patriotic gift of a large American flag he can proudly display on his front porch.
Whatever your father likes, he’ll be sure to enjoy the thoughtful Father’s Day gift you picked out for him. Don’t forget: Father’s Day on Sunday, June 15!
